Concrete in Plano, TX
Concrete work built for Plano
A lot of Plano was built from the 1970s through the 1990s. Many of those homes have rear-entry garages off an alley, with a short apron behind the house instead of a long driveway up front. Alley aprons take a beating from trash trucks and turning cars, and they often crack and drop where they meet the alley paving. Replacing that apron, the back patio, and the side walk is a common Plano project for us.
Newer areas in west Plano, near Willow Bend and the Legacy West area, have larger homes and more decorative work: stamped patios, pool deck replacements, entry walks, and courtyard slabs. Commercial property is spread across the city, and we take on sidewalk, curb, and parking area repairs for owners and property managers.
Plano sits on deep Blackland clay, and decades of wet and dry cycles have taken a toll on older concrete. Many homes also have foundations that have moved over time, which can shift patios and walks at the house line. We check for that before a pour, since new concrete tied tight to a moving foundation will crack. In those cases, we leave an isolation joint at the house so the slab can move without pulling on the foundation. We also look for old slab repairs from past owners, since patched sections hide problems that a new pour needs to address.
Alley aprons need extra care. They take heavy loads from trash and delivery trucks, so we pour them thicker, add rebar, and set a clean joint where the apron meets the city alley. Work that touches the alley may need a permit from the City of Plano, and we will help you figure out what is required. We also look at the drain in the alley, since a clogged alley drain can send water back up the apron and under the slab. Many alley garages also have a short side walk to the back gate, and we can replace it in the same pour to save a second mobilization.
If your back patio is sound but tired, resurfacing or sealing can bring it back for far less than replacement. Sealing runs about $1 to $3 per square foot and helps the surface hold up to sun and freeze. Resurfacing works best on a slab that is level and sound with only surface wear. If a patio has sunk at one end or tilted toward the house, an overlay will only hide the problem for a while.
Plano is southeast of our shop, past Frisco, so we plan site visits ahead. Most estimates can be done in one trip, with written numbers left the same day or sent soon after. For Willow Bend and Legacy West area homes, decorative work like stamped entries and stained patios is common. Commercial owners across the city call for sidewalk, curb, and parking repairs, and we can work in phases so the property stays open. Here is why phases help: tenants and customers keep using half the lot while the other half cures.
